Degree Transfer Program Standard

Our specialised Degree Transfer Programs are equivalent to the first year of a bachelor’s degree at university. You can follow your path to a range of business, IT, computer science, science undergraduate degrees and more when you join the second year of university.
 

Program Benefits

  • Learn content relevant to your university degree and receive full credit for all university-level courses.
  • You’ll be provided with English language and learning support to assist you while you’re studying the Degree Transfer Program.
  • As our graduate, you won’t be required to provide further evidence of your English language proficiency.
  • You’ll have the flexibility of studying a Degree Transfer Program in one of three formats: extended, standard or accelerated.

Our Bachelor of Science majoring in Biotechnology, will develop your foundational knowledge, technical skills, and adaptability to stay current with emerging trends in the biotech field. Prepare to lead the way forward in a constantly evolving industry. 

You’ll combine traditional science with aspects of engineering and computer science as you learn to take your discoveries from the lab to the market and broader community. Delve into areas such as drug development, gene therapy and the identification of biomarkers for cancers. Gain a holistic approach to biotechnology as you consider social and ethical issues that impact the world around you.

 

What you'll learn


Studying alongside research experts in biotechnology, you’ll explore molecular, genetic animal and plant biology and learn how to produce food, drugs and other products. You’ll discover microbial technology and bioprocess engineering while learning how to modify living things. 

This degree includes common first year courses, so you can expand your education and gain a broader understanding of all the science disciplines.   

During your final year of study, you’ll undertake at least 80 hours of either an industry placement or project – giving you the valuable professional skills that will prepare you for your future career.  

As part of your major in biotechnology, you’ll study a range of topics, including:  

  • Biology (molecules, genes and cells) 
  • Chemistry 
  • Biochemistry 
  • Microbiology 
  • Principles of biotechnology 
  • Molecular and structural biology

    Scholarships

    The University of Adelaide College International Scholarship rewards the international graduates of the University of Adelaide College.

     

    This scholarship is:

    • Available for graduates of the University of Adelaide College commencing at the University of Adelaide.
    • Open to citizens of any country (except Australia and New Zealand); and
    • Provides a waiver of 10% of the annual tuition fee for each year of the program for the full duration of the degree.

     

    Value
    The scholarship offers a 10% tuition fee reduction for the minimum standard full-time duration of the scholar's chosen undergraduate or postgraduate degree.

     

    Eligibility
    To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

    • Be a graduate of the University of Adelaide College;
    • Have a University of Adelaide offer of admission (full offer or conditional offer) as a full-fee-paying international student;
    • Enrol in a full time study load for each study period of the degree;
    • Complete the acceptance process as outlined in your offer of admission.

    Note: Scholarship applicants who are eligible for more than one scholarship offered by the University of Adelaide will only be entitled to receive one scholarship (the highest value scholarship award for which they are eligible).

     

    Exclusions
    The following applicants are not eligible to receive these scholarships:

    • Current University of Adelaide students who are transferring from one degree to another prior to successful completion of their program of study (internal transfers)
    • Students who are recipients of a scholarship covering tuition fees awarded by a recognised scholarship awarding body such as a government ministry or department
    • Applicants for Masters by Research or Phd programs;
