Foundation Studies Program Standard

Our Foundation Studies Program provides you with a pathway to follow your dreams of studying business, IT, engineering, medicine, nursing and much more at university.
 

Program Benefits

  • For students studying at the College, once you achieve your required progression score, you are guaranteed entry to your packaged degree, and, for most bachelor’s degrees, you won’t need to provide any further English language evidence.
  • We will ensure that you understand all the additional entry requirements for Medicine, Dentistry, Midwifery, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.
  • The program is streamed, allowing you to choose subjects to suit your bachelor degree choice.
  • You will be issued with a packaged Confirmation of Enrolment for the entire duration of study at the College and the University.
  • In addition to weekly class attendance, students are also expected to complete 20-25 hours per week of independent learning.

You will build core knowledge across essential disciplines of business including accounting, economics, people management, marketing, strategic decision making, emerging technology and corporate law. You will develop the power skills necessary to succeed in the future of business and emerge as a creative and innovative project manager capable of solving problems and responding with agility.

Contemporary learning experiences across the degree are underpinned by genuine community and industry engagement. Real-world projects and case studies are woven into the curriculum, enhancing your employability. You will have the opportunity to engage in experiential learning, including internship opportunities that will enable you to explore professional pathways in sectors aligned with your interests.

 

What you'll learn
You will study core courses across essential disciplines of business including accounting, economics, people management, marketing principles, strategic decision making and corporate law.

From your first year you’ll be introduced to the foundations of project management through examining the theory alongside project management lifecycles, tools and techniques. You will delve into essential concepts related to time and cost management within project management, including scheduling, milestones, and reporting.

You’ll explore system thinking and the importance of anticipating and planning for risks. Build your knowledge of project management across a range of industries through examining aspects of industrial relations, health, safety and sustainability.

Develop negotiation skills, and advance your understanding of procurement planning, tendering and contract administration. Your entrepreneurial mindset will be cultivated through theoretical exploration to build your confidence and you will learn leadership concepts, behaviours and traits within a project context.

You’ll be exposed to concepts of identity, diversity, equity and inclusion to foster cross-cultural skills and explore bias and power dynamics.

Professional Work Integrated Learning opportunities are embedded within second and third year studies, including the opportunity for internships and mentoring. You’ll develop a practical understanding of project management and explore career options and pathways that align to your individual values and interests.

    Scholarships

    The University of Adelaide College International Scholarship rewards the international graduates of the University of Adelaide College.

     

    This scholarship is:

    • Available for graduates of the University of Adelaide College commencing at the University of Adelaide.
    • Open to citizens of any country (except Australia and New Zealand); and
    • Provides a waiver of 10% of the annual tuition fee for each year of the program for the full duration of the degree.

     

    Value
    The scholarship offers a 10% tuition fee reduction for the minimum standard full-time duration of the scholar's chosen undergraduate or postgraduate degree.

     

    Eligibility
    To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

    • Be a graduate of the University of Adelaide College;
    • Have a University of Adelaide offer of admission (full offer or conditional offer) as a full-fee-paying international student;
    • Enrol in a full time study load for each study period of the degree;
    • Complete the acceptance process as outlined in your offer of admission.

    Note: Scholarship applicants who are eligible for more than one scholarship offered by the University of Adelaide will only be entitled to receive one scholarship (the highest value scholarship award for which they are eligible).

     

    Exclusions
    The following applicants are not eligible to receive these scholarships:

    • Current University of Adelaide students who are transferring from one degree to another prior to successful completion of their program of study (internal transfers)
    • Students who are recipients of a scholarship covering tuition fees awarded by a recognised scholarship awarding body such as a government ministry or department
    • Applicants for Masters by Research or Phd programs;
