Pre-Master Program
 

The University of Adelaide College was the first education provider in Australia to offer a postgraduate pathway course to a Group of Eight university. We developed these specialised Pre-Master’s Programs so you can follow your path to a range of master’s degrees.
 

Program benefits
 

  • Upon successful completion of your Pre-Master’s Program, you are guaranteed entry into your packaged postgraduate degree at Adelaide University.
  • You’ll have the flexibility of studying a Pre-Master’s Program in one to three study periods. Students enrolled in the trimester-based master’s destinations will study three University courses, while students enrolled in the semester-based master’s destinations will study four University courses.
  • Learn the academic knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed in your postgraduate studies.

 

Leading to: Master of Accounting and Finance

This degree will give you comprehensive financial expertise and a professional accounting qualification. Develop key areas of expertise, including financial and management accounting, auditing and taxation.

Cover essential business topics such as management theory, business mathematics, business law and economics. You’ll gain insights into how financial managers make decisions – including how financial tools and markets are utilised to increase return and manage risk.

Besides technical learning, you’ll develop critical thinking, communication and leadership skills. This ensures you graduate ready to advance your career in accounting and finance.

 

What you'll learn


During your two-year degree, you’ll build a rounded and in-depth understanding of key business, accounting and finance principles.  

In your first year, you’ll be introduced to business fundamentals with courses on analytical tools for business and introductory economic principles, accounting concepts and finance principles. You’ll also explore topics on accounting information systems and processes, financial reporting, equity valuation, and the market operations and management of risk in relation to fixed income securities.  

In your second year, you’ll complete courses on ethical finance and accounting principles, the role and functionality of derivative markets, advanced investment strategies, and contemporary management and accounting concepts and techniques including budgeting and forecasting. You could also pick courses that will teach you the principles of auditing and assurance services or frameworks for analysing and interpreting financial statements. You’ll also have the opportunity to choose a course that will introduce you to fundamental concepts of taxation law, or explore a course on advanced corporate finance policies.

    Scholarships

    The University of Adelaide College International Scholarship rewards the international graduates of the University of Adelaide College.

     

    This scholarship is:

    • Available for graduates of the University of Adelaide College commencing at the University of Adelaide.
    • Open to citizens of any country (except Australia and New Zealand); and
    • Provides a waiver of 10% of the annual tuition fee for each year of the program for the full duration of the degree.

     

    Value
    The scholarship offers a 10% tuition fee reduction for the minimum standard full-time duration of the scholar's chosen undergraduate or postgraduate degree.

     

    Eligibility
    To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

    • Be a graduate of the University of Adelaide College;
    • Have a University of Adelaide offer of admission (full offer or conditional offer) as a full-fee-paying international student;
    • Enrol in a full time study load for each study period of the degree;
    • Complete the acceptance process as outlined in your offer of admission.

    Note: Scholarship applicants who are eligible for more than one scholarship offered by the University of Adelaide will only be entitled to receive one scholarship (the highest value scholarship award for which they are eligible).

     

    Exclusions
    The following applicants are not eligible to receive these scholarships:

    • Current University of Adelaide students who are transferring from one degree to another prior to successful completion of their program of study (internal transfers)
    • Students who are recipients of a scholarship covering tuition fees awarded by a recognised scholarship awarding body such as a government ministry or department
    • Applicants for Masters by Research or Phd programs;
