Program Overview

International Year One (UTP Stage II)

TMU’s Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science’s undergraduate programs prepare students to make meaningful contributions to advancements in technology, health, environmental sustainability, design and more. All engineering programs are accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board.

Leading to: Bachelor of Engineering - Computer Engineering

Behind every digital phenomenon is a computer engineer. They make the world around us more efficient, bring communities together, improve digital security, democratize commerce and enhance entertainment through technologies such as virtual reality. And with processes becoming increasingly intelligent every day, the demand for skilled computer engineers follows. As a student of this discipline, you’ll develop a versatile set of skills: designing and building computers, mapping networks, programming software, developing firmware and interfacing computers with the outside world.

While completing your Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree, you’ll begin by learning to apply physical sciences and mathematics to engineering principles. In third year, you’ll focus on advanced subjects such as computer architecture and software systems, preparing you for valuable, paid work experience in an optional co-operative internship program. You’ll also have the opportunity to focus on coding and software design with an option in software engineering. In your fourth and final year, you’ll further specialize in network and systems design while also collaborating with peers on a large-scale design project.

Graduates of the program leave Toronto Metropolitan University prepared for careers as electronics engineers, IT consultants, software developers, systems analysts, network engineers, and more.

The computer engineering (BEng) degree program is fully accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB).
