Planners balance science, aesthetics and community interests in the planning of healthy urban, rural and regional communities and environments. They work with community members, developers and elected officials to create places that optimize the use or preservation of society’s environmental, economic, social, cultural aesthetic, and infrastructure assets.


What you will learn

You will learn about the challenges of managing urbanization in a variety of contexts and about the latest innovations in planning policy and design. Some of the topics you’ll study include: land-use planning that integrates modern technologies, active transportation and transportation infrastructure, climate change solutions, energy conservation, protecting water supplies, and caring for natural areas. You will learn about community engagement, policy analysis and government processes, economics, planning and development law, geomatics, and conflict resolution.

Scholarships

International student awards

These awards are for international students and are awarded based on academic achievement.

Apply for admission by February 15 to be eligible for consideration:

            Value: $10,000
            International students will be considered automatically for these awards based on academic achievement upon admission.

            Value: $20,000
            International students completing the IB Diploma Programme will be considered automatically upon admission.

NEW USask Entrance Scholarships

  •    600 high-achieving entering students will be offered the entrance awards valued at $5,000. To be considered, submit the online application for admission by February 15. Scholarship offers will be sent by email to both the personal and USask email address on file starting in early April. 
  •    International students residing in British Columbia, Ontario and Alberta who apply to enter any direct-entry undergraduate program before May 1 will be considered automatically for the $10,000 province-specific award based on academic achievement 

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

You will be considered automatically for a Guaranteed Entrance Scholarship if you are:

  • a current high school (secondary) student who plans to come to USask after you graduate,
  • a student who has already graduated from high school (secondary) but has little or no previous post-secondary education (less than 18 transferable credit units), or
  • beginning your degree program in a direct-entry college (Agriculture and Bioresources, Arts and Science, Engineering, Education, Edwards School of Business, or Kinesiology).
