Study design with us and we’ll help you turn your creative ideas into reality. AUT's design degree responds to the changing nature of design careers by focusing on the connections between different design disciplines, the importance of m?tauranga M?ori, and new and emergent technologies.


Major:  Fashion Design

Study fashion design, and develop a strong conceptual design style and practical design skills – from drawing and pattern cutting to understanding the business of fashion. Access world-class facilities and make industry connections.

The Fashion Design major focuses on conceptualising and developing innovative products that respond to major changes in the consumption of fashion. You can access our industry-standard machinery and digital technologies, as well as our suite of art and design labs, to turn your designs into reality.

You may also be able to show your creations at the AUT Graduate Fashion Show, which features collections by a selection of top final-year AUT fashion design students. The event is attended by fashion media and industry, AUT staff and students as well as their family and friends.

    International Scholarships for specific regions
     
     AUT offers tuition support for new international students for Semester 1, 2026:
    •  NZD 5,000–10,000 fees contribution for undergraduate students
    •  NZD 7,000 fees contribution for postgraduate students (excluding doctoral)
    Open to full fee-paying students from South Asia, Southeast Asia, North Asia and Europe with a current conditional or firm offer to study at AUT.


    International Scholarships by AUT Faculty
     
    AUT faculties offer international scholarships with fees contribution of NZD 5,000–10,000 for eligible programmes starting in Semester 1, 2026. Open to international students with a conditional or firm offer. Doctoral programmes are excluded.

    AUT International Scholarships - Business - V3 2025 Intake Eligibility Criteria Amount and Type of Award Tenure Important Information
    Auckland University of Technology (AUT) provides scholarships to recognise and support high achieving international students as they begin their journey in becoming great graduates of AUT.
    • Applicants must be new full-fee paying international students. See additional notes.
    • Applicants must have a current and valid unconditional offer to study the following AUT programme commencing in Intake V3, 2025 (28 October 2025):
      • Master of Applied Finance
      • Master of Business Management
      • Master of Marketing
      • Master of Professional Accounting
      • Master of Supply Chain Management
    • Applicants cannot be previous AUT students. This includes those who are applying for a higher-level programme (e.g., an AUT postgraduate diploma graduate applying for a master's programme).
    • Students who have already commenced studies at AUT are not eligible to apply.
    NZ$7000 contribution to fees. The scholarship is awarded for one year only on programme commencement.
    • Eligible programmes are master’s degree level and 180 points in duration. Refer to the appendix in Regulations for a list of eligible programmes.
    • International students are not citizens, permanent residents nor resident visa holders of New Zealand or Australia.
    • AUT is not obliged to make an award if there is no candidate of sufficient merit.
    • The regulations are periodically reviewed by the University Scholarships Committee and are subject to change.

    • North Asia: China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Mongolia, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Republic of Korea. .

    The AUT International Scholarships – Semester 2, 2025 intake are available to support high-achieving international students as they begin their study in eligible programmes in the following faculties and schools.
