How you will learn

Learning is centred around developing your ability to carry out independent, high-quality research in computer science. Taught elements will introduce you to key research techniques, programming tools, statistical analysis and scientific writing. These are delivered through lectures, lab sessions, workshops and collaborative discussion.

The majority of the course focuses on your research project, where you will design and complete an independent investigation in a specialist area such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity or software systems. You will be guided by a research-active academic supervisor and have access to our dedicated computing labs and industry-standard software.

You will also be encouraged to take part in seminars, conferences and coding clubs, giving you exposure to new developments and the opportunity to share ideas with peers. Throughout the course, you will have access to expert academic and technical support to help you succeed in your studies.
