This MRes is designed for graduates in engineering or related fields who want to deepen their technical expertise through focused research. You will select specialist modules aligned with your interests, such as sustainable energy, automation or materials, and undertake a substantial research project under academic supervision.

How you will learn

You will learn through a blend of structured teaching and independent research. Core taught modules introduce you to research design, quantitative and qualitative methodologies, and academic writing. These will be delivered through a mix of lectures, seminars, lab-based sessions and workshops.

A major component of the course is the extended research project, which allows you to focus on a specific area of engineering that aligns with your interests or career goals. Supervised by research-active academics, you will develop, conduct and report on your own research study.
