A Pathway in Business and Management is designed to develop strong foundations in design, critical thinking, and research.

In the First Year Pathway students complete the International College Portsmouth (ICP) at University of Portsmouth first year of the degree, undertaking the same modules, in the same classes as students entering the University directly. Alongside the International College Portsmouth (ICP) at University of Portsmouth modules, students entering through the First Year Pathway will have additional support and tuition from International College Portsmouth (ICP) at University of Portsmouth.

First Year

A First Year pathway is available for students who:

• Don’t meet the entry requirements to enter university level study directly (but hold equivalent to AS/A level studies)
• Feel that additional support at the start of university studies will help them stand a better chance of success
• Have been away from studies for a period of time
• Come from a different academic environment to that of the UK

Progressing from First Year

At International College Portsmouth (ICP) at University of Portsmouth we offer a first year or stage 2 level study. Either students will enter this pathway following completion of the foundation, or for students that have completed equivalent of A level study we also have an entry point at first year of a bachelor’s degree.

Upon completion of the first year, or Stage 2, you will seamlessly progress to the second year of your chosen degree with the University, and no longer be registered with International College Portsmouth (ICP) at University of Portsmouth.

Business and Management

Stand out in the job market with a BA (Hons) Business and Management degree that gives you the skills and knowledge you need to excel in today’s evolving global business landscape, as well as a professional qualification from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

Starting with a detailed core curriculum including marketing, finance, managing people and operations, this degree gives you strong foundations on which to build your business knowledge. After your first year you’ll decide which direction to take your degree.

You'll tailor your learning by choosing modules that develop knowledge in a specialism that employers are looking for — with options including enterprise, business intelligence, operational excellence, financial management, commercial transformation, and managing people.

You'll build your professional skills as you learn by working on live client projects and real industry problem-solving tasks throughout your course.

You’ll have support in every step of your journey with initiatives such as our mentoring scheme with industry professionals, and grow your confidence with client work and optional industry placements — including a paid placement year — so you’ll graduate ready to make an immediate impact in the workplace.
