A Pre-Masters is your first step to a Manchester Metropolitan University masters degree, if you do not meet the academic requirements to join directly. It will provide you with both the academic and study skills required for you to be ready to study a masters in the UK.

Your pre-masters programme will lead seamlessly onto your chosen Manchester Metropolitan University masters degree provided you have passed all modules.

Your visa will cover the entire period of study in both your pre-masters year and masters degree, so there is no need to reapply after you have completed your pre-masters course.

Pre- Master in Humanities and Social Sciences

This programme provides you with an opportunity to explore the world we live in and challenge your own knowledge of science through new initiatives and research.

It also covers the advanced humanities and social science concepts you will need to move from undergraduate topics to the more complex theories covered during a masters degree.  

The pathway will also enhance your skills in research, critical thinking and English language, which are needed to successfully study as a postgraduate.

Leading to : Master of Arts in Contemporary Curating

MA Contemporary Curating explores the notion of curatorial practice in contemporary culture by addressing a number of inter-related fields of creative practice and theoretical approaches and situating them in a historical and critical context. The course explores different kinds of curatorial issues in addressing exhibition-forms and exhibition-making processes and how we conceive of spaces of production and curating as subjects with our integrated research and practice-led approach.

The shifting relationship between artist-institution-curator-critic/writer forms a central element to the course with a special focus on the meaning the culture of curating, in which our perception of creativity has been transformed by curating and the discourses surrounding it. The course also explores the potential of seeing curating as something that can be applied to various forms of knowledge: publications, symposia, events and interventions.
