Program Overview
UNB Saint John offers a two-year Diploma in Engineering Foundations in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Software Engineering. The Diploma in Engineering Foundations provides students with a basic understanding of scientific principles, and a foundation in engineering mathematics, design, and technical communication. Students are enrolled either in the Diploma in Engineering Foundations program or in the Bachelor of Science in Engineering program at UNB Saint John, and take a common core curriculum in their first term. In the second term of their first year, they take a combination of common core courses and required discipline-specific courses in their chosen area. In their second year, students take a combination of required courses in their chosen discipline and designated complementary studies electives, basic science electives, and technical electives.
Upon the successful completion of this two-year program of study, students are awarded the diploma, and can either move to UNB Fredericton or stay at UNB Saint John to complete the BSc degree. Alternatively, they may seek admission with advanced standing at another university to complete their undergraduate degree.

- Minimum Level of Education Required: To be accepted into this program, applicants must have Grade 12 / High School Diploma or equivalent including the following required course(s):

- Chemistry
- Physics
- 1 elective from group 1, 2 or 4
- Each subject passed with a minimum grade of C or above
- Overall average B or higher in the subjects above

FOR UG PROGARMS
Yes, we offer scholarships to international students ranging from $500-$40,000.
If you would like to be considered for UNB scholarships, you must submit an entrance scholarship application by March 1. Late applications will be accepted. If funding permits, these applications will be reviewed.
FOR MASTERS PROGARMS
A number of Merit Awards up to $10,000 each are given to outstanding full-time candidates with a high standing. A separate application for these awards is not required.
To be considered for an award, you must provide your completed MBA application by May 15.
Awards are assessed according to your Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score, years of work experience and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA):
- GMAT 660 and five years or more of full-time relevant post-graduate work experience: $10,000
- 3.7 CGPA/GMAT 600 and five years or more of full-time relevant post-graduate work experience: $4,000
GMAT scores must not have any section under the 50% percentile to qualify for scholarships. All scholarships are awarded on undergraduate results only.
