Program Overview

Sport and physical activity is fundamental to healthy development of individuals. The Sport, Coaching and Physical Education degree will focus on understanding the development of participants in sports teaching and coaching contexts.

Our Sports Science courses are ranked in the top 20 in the UK for teaching satisfaction by the Guardian University Guide 2022.

You’ll develop skills across a range of sports and physical activities, gaining a variety of experience in schools, coaching settings and within community sports development contexts. Many graduates progress into careers such as a PE teaching, sports coaching and working within local authorities or county sports partnerships.

The course will explore innovative approaches to coaching/teaching and encourage you to critically reflect on your own delivery and the impact different approaches have on learners. In addition, you’ll develop an understanding of contemporary issues in physical education and coaching including motivations to participate in sport and physical activity as well as the barriers to participation for different abilities and backgrounds.
