Merit scholarship

• If you are applying for Fall Year 1 admission, you will automatically be considered, based on your high school GPA and holistic review of your application
• Awards range from $7,500 to $20,000 per year (renewable annually, conditions apply) 
• Merit scholarships can be combined with need-based awards 
• Admitted transfer students with GPA 3.3+ receive $5,000 renewable scholarship

Scholarships for students with financial need

• Submit a separate application for a variety of need-based awards available to international students 
• Endowed scholarships range from $1,000 to $12,000 and have varying criteria
• The International Cultural Service Program awards up to $25,000 per year based on academic merit and ability to make presentations to diverse groups

International Work-Study Award

• Work-study awards are given by UO each year to all eligible international students who apply for the award by April 15.  
• This award provides a monthly paycheck for on-campus work (up to 20 hours per week). The award does not guarantee a job, but opportunities for on-campus employment are greatly increased.

Merit scholarships for international students

International students are automatically considered for renewable merit scholarships of up to $20,000 per year. These awards are available to admitted first-year students enrolling in the fall term (September start) who have not attended another college after high school graduation. Merit scholarships from UO can be combined with need-based awards.

* Awards renew for up to four or five years (depending on degree program length) provided you maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and enroll full-time (12 credits per term).

Scholarships for international students with financial need

After applying to the University of Oregon, eligible students can submit a separate application for a variety of need-based awards.

On-campus work opportunities

Work-study awards are given to eligible international students each year by UO. This award provides a monthly paycheck for on-campus work (up to 20 hours per week). The award does not guarantee a job, but opportunities for on-campus employment are greatly increased. However, international students can also apply for paid work on campus without a work-study award.
